Amélie, the 2001 romantic comedy directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, may have been nominated for Academy Awards for best screenplay and directing, but we’re nominating it for best interior design. Though Amélie is a shy waitress, played by Audrey Tatou, she lives in an uncharacteristically bold apartment in Paris. Red is the key player in her home, but pops of electric blue and hunter green offset her warm color palette. Charming personal touches are around every corner, including an anthropomorphized pig lamp and pet portraits.
The décor of the apartment is just as exciting as the adventure Amélie takes in the film. Well … almost.
