There’s nothing we love more around here than the tale of a total transformation. Usually, we hear about turn-of-the-century or midcentury homes given a major facelift, but it’s rarer to hear of a home built in the last 20 years totally renovated. Such was the case for a client of San Francisco-based interior designer Ann Lowengart, whose home across the Golden Gate Bridge in Tiburon was built in the ‘90s as a classic spec home. “Before we got our hands on it, every finish and detail screamed ‘dated’—and not in a good way,” Lowengart says.
