When Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson had the chance to redecorate her New York City apartment with the help of AllModern, she had a specific aesthetic in mind: playful, cheerful, and, simply put, happy. "I wanted it to feel feminine and youthful. I had just finished working on PLL for so many years, and it was really bittersweet to see that end, and so I wanted the space to be cheery and happy for the next chapter," Benson tells AllModern. "I wanted it to be an open space so that I could have my friends over and we could eat together, play music and also practice the guitar with people while experiencing living in a new city and figuring out what my next steps acting-wise would be."
Benson and AllModern designer Nicole Gordon started by choosing the color palette—a careful selection process that Benson was heavily involved in.
"I loved going to the paint store with Nicole," Benson says. "I got to pick out happy colors. I was really into it and did all the test swatches myself—I bought the brushes and painted a swatch of each color on one of the walls and just lived with the colors for a few days. I’m so happy I did it that way because I realized that the color tones change during the different times of the day."

The statement-making walls in Benson's living room steal the show. The actress, who wanted "happy colors" certainly chose a bright shade of optimism for her main living space.
"I love that the coral we ended up choosing was cheerful during the day and moody and relaxing at sunset and coquettish at night," Benson explains.
As for her favorite piece in the space, Benson loves the coffee table from Jonathan Adler. With the gold, spiral legs and marble top, the table adds femininity and whimsy to her space.
"It's modern and feminine while still being durable," she explains. "It pops in the room."
Ashley chose a sectional for her living room, a smart choice for hosting guests, friends, or having a party. The neutral gray fabric makes it easy to accessorize with plenty of cushions. She chose furry pillows in shades of white and soft pink.
Each corner in the apartment has something unique, whether it's this curved accent chair upholstered in a lush velvet or this understated gold accent table. There's always something new to appreciate in this space.
Who doesn't love Marilyn Monroe? This Warhol-inspired piece hangs above Benson's bar cart, perfectly stocked for a housewarming party. Take a note from this styling and keep glassware on the top shelf and bottles on the bottom.
A NYC apartment with a true dining area is quite a luxury, and Benson made the most of it. These blue velvet chairs are sharply geometric, adding a nice contrast to the more rounded shapes in the living room. The buffet is the perfect place to store spare dishes or fancy linens for future dinner parties.
Music is important to Benson. Her guitar has a permanent place in the living room corner as well as her music stand, so she has plenty of opportunities to practice.
This Jonathan Adler swivel chair is upholstered in a dreamy light blush velvet, the perfect chair to curl up with a good book or maybe even a cocktail or glass of wine after a long day on set.
In homage to another Hollywood icon, this space has a classic shot of Audrey Hepburn in one of her most beloved roles, Breakfast at Tiffany's.
In the guest bedroom, things are kept simple with a gray and white color scheme. The pop of color comes in the form of a green velvet chair, set right next to the window to take advantage of the iconic NYC skyline.
The chair and accent table make for a perfect reading nook. Benson keeps a book and candle there as a sweet touch for her guests.
In the primary bedroom, neutral colors are still the name of the game. Benson chose white, cream, and black as her color scheme for a serene space.
With nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, this bedroom lets in a ton of light. The soft tones in the room keep everything nice and bright.
It wouldn't be a Benson space without another pop of color. This chair adds the perfect touch of glam to the star's space.
