When it comes to great design, we often turn to the Swedish or the French, but one of our all-time favorite places to look is Down Under. Aussie design never fails to satisfy (we all want to style our homes this way), and this stylish Melbourne residence proves it.
Architecture and interior design firm Robson Rak was tasked with a simple brief: to modernize a tired interior. The team completely transformed the 1934 house in the hip Toorak neighborhood into a vibrant, clean, classically contemporary home for a busy family of four.
Chris Rak, who is also a sculptor with a large studio in St. Kilda, custom-made much of the home's bespoke furniture, lighting, and sculpture. Needless to say, the end result is truly breathtaking. Take the tour and see for yourself; then shop the look.
This grand entry fuses inspiration with function. The bespoke geometric carpet is a seriously awesome welcome home.
Sleek is the word in this stylish dining room we all want at home.
No need for a pendant light when you have so much streaming in from Mother Nature.
An accent chair is the antidote for a lonely corner.
The pop of yellow brings the dramatic living room to life. The fireplace mirror was custom-made by the Robson Rak design team.
We love a freestanding tub, especially when it's surrounded by marble.
This is the messy bed look in all its stylish glory.
