The book that changed my life: Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier. I read this at school and it’s both brutal and romantic, and it had a really formative effect on my ideas about the world. The most amazing meal I've ever had: The last meal I had while on holiday in Croatia really sticks out in my mind. I had lamb cutlets, cooked rare, and I don’t think I have ever been so gluttonous before or since. They were just perfect, tender, and falling off the bone, and I could’ve eaten a pile of them. The morning and nighttime routines I swear by: Morning: I use Witch face wash every morning, a cleanser that’s made with witch hazel. It’s a great match for my skin and, on a somewhat irrational level, “witch hazel” are just two words I like. I then moisturise with Garnier Moisture + Matte Daily Oil-Free Moisturiser, which is perfect if you are prone to both dry skin and flare-ups. Night: I don’t wear make-up on a daily basis so I generally only cleanse my skin once a day (a bit of a sin, I know!). Before bed I meditate to unwind from the day, and moisturise with a little coconut oil. The best décor hack I've learned: A habit I’ve had since university, I found the cheapest and easiest way to make a room interesting—especially in rented accommodation that you aren’t allowed to decorate—is to collage pictures you’ve cut from magazines, postcards you’ve bought in art galleries, and your favourite posters on one particular feature wall. You have to pick wisely (thinking in colour themes helps) and arrange carefully to make sure it doesn’t look a mess, but when done well it can really lift a space. My interior stylist spirit animal is: He’s more of an architect than interior designer, but I am constantly inspired by George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, which specialises in small-space builds and renovations. It has amazing space-saving ideas and beautifully creative design solutions. I’ve never wanted a treehouse hideaway more than when watching this program. The Instagram handles I follow religiously are: https://www.instagram.com/lemuelmcoflondon/ This is my friend’s sustainable fashion brand and I absolutely love both the clothes and the beautiful photographs she posts, especially the ones from her recent trip to Lithuania. https://www.instagram.com/vanachanelle/ My favourite tattoo artist (and from my hometown), Vana creates amazingly intricate patterns and has a huge amount of skill. A bit of a tattoo-wimp myself, following her feed is a way to live vicariously. This season, my go-to cocktail order is: It’s got to be Rum and Bass. Made with rum, brown sugar, and lots of crushed ice, it’s simple, delicious and deceptively potent, so it’s best not to have more than one. The first lesson I learned as an Adult with a capital A: Don’t try to live to other people’s expectations, or let people underestimate you. The most surprising thing I learned from a MyDomaine story is: How a Workaholic Decided to Quit Everything and Move That happiness doesn’t necessarily lay at the end of a 5-year-plan, and a snap decision could be the best you’ve ever made.
