Visit These Insta-Worthy Restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne

We’re not sure about you, but we need our daily Instagram fix. A quick scroll brings us endless inspiration, and sometimes, (often), it can even inspire hunger pangs. With each carefully styled image of steaming dumplings or artfully decorated grain bowls, we have to fight the urge to head to a restaurant to eat. (And take some food snaps of our own, of course.) So, what does it take for a restaurant to be insta-worthy? For one, it helps to have some kind feature piece (see: a neon sign or mural), textured linens, exposed beams, and a rooftop for good measure. Lucky for us, hospitality site, OpenTable has compiled a hit-list of the most stylish and chic restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne, each with their own photo-worthy design elements. Keep scrolling to find out which eateries made the cut, then book yourself a table immediately.

Think Millennial Pink. Nour in Sydney's Surry Hills is a hidden gem built on the dream of presenting classic Lebanese flavours in a fresh, exciting way. With a beautiful, contemporary interior, and cocktails vibrant enough to inspired double clicks, you won't want to leave this cosy nook.

A recent revamp of this Surry Hills institution has redefined the iconic space, taking our obsession with monochrome to a whole new level. In a contemporary twist, the hotel’s three main rooms each tell a different story with textured walls, eccentric stools, and papier mâché ceilings.

A visit to David’s Restaurant is reminiscent of a trip to Shanghai’s countryside. Take a turn down quiet Cecil Place and you'll find yourself in a modern provincial palace, complete with steel framed windows, exposed brick and contemporary furniture.

Taking restaurant décor very seriously is Greek restaurant, 1821. With a three-level fitout shipped all the way from Athens, the restaurant emulates authentic Greek vibes. Featuring breathtaking columns, high ceilings and impressive art, the restaurant pays homage to its ancestry in more ways than one.

You would be forgiven for thinking you'd been transported to a dining hall in South-East Asia upon entering Chin Chin. Known for their fusion tapas-style offering, the restaurant has long been the place to eat and Instagram in Melbourne.

One of the most happening eateries in Melbourne right now, The Kettle Black has a chic all-white interior, and Victorian-era exterior. Open for breakfast and lunch, this place doesn't serve your typical bacon and eggs. See their Instagram for what you can expect.

In a total transformation of the Fitzroy’s Old Colonial Inn, newbie Ichi Ni Nana pays homage to its Japanese heritage with incredible handmade furniture. On the ground level you'll find lush greenery and deep mahogany decor, whilst the rooftop features pop art and an eye-popping retractable glass ceiling.
