It's been a few years since Millennial Pink became the color dujour, but its popularity is far from waning. And while Gen Z Yellow made a valiant effort to steal the blush pink shade's crown as the ultimate "it color," Millennial Pink continues to reign supreme.
And if Benjamin Moore is to believed, Millennial Pink will continue to be popular well into the next decade. The paint brand just revealed its choice for the 2020 Color of the Year: First Light 2102-70, a soft blush shade that definitely falls within the Millennial Pink color wheel.
While considering options for Color of the Year, Benjamin Moore took into consideration the fact that 2020 represents the start of a whole new decade. The brand's color experts believe First Light is an ideal hue to serve as the background to a fresh new decade.
“We selected First Light 2102-70 as our Color of the Year 2020 to represent a new dawn of idealism, design, and living,” says Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore Director of Color Marketing and Development. "First Light 2102-70 reflects a new definition of the home—a shift in mindset from the material to satisfying the core needs in life: community, comfort, security, self-expression, authenticity and ultimately, optimism.”
And while the color is decidedly pink, it also maintains elements of neutrality that make it a great alternative to beiges, off-whites, and grays. First Light is also soft enough that it can complement bolder shades that you may have present in your home's décor.
Benjamin Moore describes the hue as "a soft, rosy hue blooming with potential," which mirrors the potential the new decade represents.
