Take a Sailing Trip on the Croatian Coast
If you love the land and the sea with equal enthusiasm, a vacation in Croatia will make you a very happy clam. We recommend planning a sailing trip from Dubrovnik to Spilt so you can hop on and off as you please. Consider booking through MedSailors so you can get a taste of the history of Dubrovnik as well as the quaint beauty of all the little towns along the Dalmatian coast. If you'd prefer to stay on land the entire time, check out the old-timey and opulent Villa Orsula in Dubrovnik.
Then escape the crowds of the capital and go to Hotel Lone, which looks like a luxury cruise-liner even though it's located in Rovinj, a magical blend of eastern and western Europe. The hotel itself is a woodsy mountain retreat with modern design while the city by the sea will transport you to yesteryear.
You may also want to peel away from the coast and head inland to the beautiful Plitvice Lakes. This national park is definitely worth the trek. If you love the outdoors, this is the place of dreams, with running rivers and gorgeous green lagoons to swim in, isolated dirt roads to bike down, and gorgeous villages to explore along the way.
Play ball on the beach or the yacht with this stylish and fun paddle set. If you're traveling with young kids, this will keep them entertained for hours.
Relax at a Resort in the Sargasso Sea
The Caribbean has a ton to offer, and each destination is completely unique. From bustling nightlife to quaint, charming streets, romantic hideaways, and posh resort escapes, there's something for everyone. If you love the tropical vibe of the islands, then you'll love buzzy spot situated right above the Carribean Sea: Bermuda.
Known for its unique pink sand beaches and calm, turquoise waters, Bermuda is a picture-perfect vacation town. For a luxe, private experience, stay in the cottages at Coral Beach & Tennis Club. The Cambridge Princess is another great resort. We especially love how all the charming bungalows are flamingo pink, just like the beaches of the region. For something small, quiet, and traditional, we suggest staying at The Rosedon in Hamilton, Bermuda. Rather than being luxe and glamorous, this hotel boasts more of a family-style stay. You can even sip on some afternoon tea. For a real five-star treat, stay at Tucker's Point.
When you're not dozing off on the beach, make sure you explore the fantasy cave in Bermuda and swim with the pigs in Hog's Bay. And it's called the Bermuda Triangle for a reason… So if you're feeling adventurous, go on a diving expedition throughout the shipwrecks (of which there are many).
Since pink is the word in Bermuda, don't forget to pack a chic pink beach bag that works day and night.
Do Yoga on Serene Thai Islands
The laid-back islands in the gulf of Thailand are a treat and a half. Koh Samui is a gorgeous island with sandy beaches that families, solo travelers, and honeymooners will all love with equal measure. You can go rustic with a beachside bungalow, or try something more luxe with one of the many esteemed resorts. If you want to dedicate your trip to wellness and rejuvenation, consider staying at the Kamalaya Resort and Spa, which is nestled in the rainforest. For something wth beachside access, we recommend Baan Mika or The Library Samui.
The beaches of Koh Mai are just as lovely and a little quieter and more chilled-out than Ko Samui. If you decide to go here, you should absolutely kayak through the mangroves. To get really into the vacation mode, stay at Sanctuary, which is a locally designed community of less than 10 bungalows.
Since you'll be outdoors pretty much all the time, we highly suggest bringing a versatile hat like this one.
Go Island Hopping in Greece
You can't go wrong with a beach vacation in the Greek Islands. The hardest part is deciding which one to stay on while you soak up the glorious sunshine. We recommend checking out Zakynthos, an island on the Ionian sea. Make sure you see Navagio Beach, which is also known by its nicknames Shipwreck Bay and Smuggler's Cove. You can only access it by boat, but it's definitely worth the ride. For an upscale vibe, stay at Hotel Vasilikos. The south part of the hotel is crowded with tourists, while the northern region is more remote and peaceful.
We also suggest hitting up some of the Cycladic Islands in the Aegean Sea. For an action-packed vacation with a lively nightlife and gourmet eats, stay at the Theoxenia or Kivotos in Mykonos. And if you're looking for a hillside getaway with gorgeous ocean views, Santorini is the Greek island for you.
This gentle, aromatic bar of coconut soap is a post-skin skincare essential. The small luxuries count, too.
Make a Chic Cliffside Visit to the Amalfi Coast
A bucket list of the best beach vacations wouldn't be complete without the Italian Amalfi Coast. If you want to lounge by the pool or on the rocky Medeteranian beaches while scarfing down pasta, you'll be happy as can be in Capri. This cliffside town is a super-safe, car-free zone with jaw-dropping ocean views and world-class shopping. Stay right in the thick of it at The Grand Hotel Quisisiana or head a bit out of town to Villa Brunella or Ceasar Augustus.
As far as beaches go, nothing is more simultaneously glamorous and relaxing than Fontallina or da Luigi ai Faraglioni beach. And you can't miss the green and blue grottos. If you take a boat ride around the island, ask them to stop at Restaurant Il Riccio, where you can cliff jump after you eat (at your own risk, digestion-wise). Or if you want to experience the island lifestyle while not having to leave the mainland, you should visit Positano, a nearby oceanfront village. For a beach vacation you'll remember, book a room at Sirenuse.
Pack your chicest pair of sunglasses so you to wear while you soak up the sun on the rocky beaches and while you're shopping through town.
A Design-Savy Backdrop on the Beach
With so many cool new spots popping up in Mexico, it's hard to decide which one we want to visit first. If you want to venture down to Baja, you should definitely stay at the hip Hotel San Cristobal in Punta Lomas. And of course, for the ultimate Mexican beach experience, we recommend heading to Tulum. Not only is it an idyllic beachside destination, but it's also drawn in design aficionados from around the world. In fact, the hip restaurants and boutique hotels give boho chic a whole new meaning.
Stay at Hotel Tiki Tiki for a stylish accommodation that doesn't break the bank. If you love the laid-back glamping feel, then check out Nomade's well-designed cabanas and beach tents. Or, for something a bit more upscale, book a room at Casa Malca. If you're in the mood to go dancing in the evenings, get groovy at Papaya Playa Project.
No matter what beach you decide to lay on, make sure you have a stylish towel to make your vacation even more amazing.
