Without a Doubt, These Are the Best Hotels in Melbourne, Australia

Before ever visiting Melbourne, we had an inclination we'd be obsessed with it. Some of our favorite cafés in L.A. and New York City are Australian imports. Case in point: Paramount Coffee Project at The ROW in the Arts District and West Hollywood.

Then there are Aussie designers like Zimmermann and Alice McCall, whose playful pieces we wished could be our entire wardrobe. There's also Australian musician Nick Murphy and Melbourne-headquartered brands like Aesop. With so many of our favorite things originating from Australia, we were certain our trip would add even more.

Visiting the land Down Under lived up to our expectations. Our list grew longer, with incredible dining additions like Supernormal, Lûmé, and Lune Croissanterie (asking for a friend to open outposts in the States) and hotel rooms that made us say out loud—more than once—that we'd redecorate our homes when we returned.

It’d be safe to say we're now true Australophiles and already dreaming of a return trip to Melbourne and Victoria. We've already scoped out the hotels we'd call home for the evening. Keep reading to see five luxury millennial-designed hotels to stay in next time you're in Melbourne.

BTW, if you live in San Francisco, you're in luck: Qantas just launched a new direct route from the Bay to Melbourne, and there are nonstop flights from L.A. too. Get your passport ready, and don't forget to apply for a visa!
