The Best Memorial Day Sales

As Memorial Day has come and gone, we’ve stopped updating this post with sales and can’t promise the ones below are still available. Check back later this year for updated deals.

Memorial Day Weekend came and went, and with it came many sales—especially on furniture, appliances, home decor, and more. From kitchen upgrades to couch steals to artwork, we share all of our favorite sales that you can still shop for below.

What is Memorial Day?

Memorial Day is the last Monday of May and it’s America’s way of honoring the soldiers who died in service to our country. It’s also considered the start of the summer season and reminds us to break out those long-lost linen items and summer comforters.  

Because Memorial Day is the start of summer, stores use the holiday to offer deep discounts on stock from their winter and spring lines. Win-win!

When is Memorial Day 2021?

Memorial Day this year falls on May 31, 2021. It's the last Monday of May this year.

When Do Memorial Day Sales Start in 2021?

While Memorial Day itself is always on a Monday, the tales tend to start the Friday before. Mark your calendars for May 28 as the start of Memorial Day sales. You can expect them to run through Memorial Day on May 31.

What is Usually on Sale for Memorial Day?

For home decor, bedding, and furniture this is a stellar time to buy. We round up a few of our favorites below.

Mattresses and Sheets

Mattress brands like Casper to Tempur-Pedic to Tuft & Needle had great deals last year for Memorial Day and while they haven’t released this year’s details yet, we’re sure they’re going to be price-dropping.

If you’re looking for new sheets for your new mattress, Brooklinen set to repeat last year’s sale which offered 15 percent off sitewide from May 21 to May 27. Make sure to check in on Parachute, too–they only have two yearly sales and one is on Memorial Day Weekend. Last year, the discount was 20 percent off sitewide.

Lastly, Buffy is one to watch, too—the brand's 2020 sale was $25 off orders of $100 or more.

Furniture

Anthropologie usually drops major discounts for Memorial Day weekend. Last year, they had a 50 percent discount, on top of already on-sale items.

If you’re looking for furniture sales, you can count on Burrow. Last year, the brand's sale started at $10 off your purchase up to $1,499 and went all the way to $500 off purchases of $3,000 and up. We’re anticipating a similar sale this year, so Memorial Day Weekend might be the perfect time to grab an on-sale credenza or statement rug.

Lighting and Decor

Over at Wayfair, the 2020 sale was up to 70 percent off on furniture, lighting, and decor so we’ll definitely be checking in on them this year. If you’re looking to furnish your new pad or spruce up your current apartment, look into West Elm’s Memorial Day Sale—it has already begun.

Kitchen Upgrades

We recommend you bookmark Sur La Table’s website, too. The brand usually has a 20 percent discount for Memorial Day and if you're in the market for an air fryer or cookware, that's the place to look.
