So far 2019 has been the year of the feminine silhouette in design—curved backs, rounded corners, scalloped shapes—and along with that has come lush, luxurious materials. Which basically means velvet and velvet-like performance upholstery has been everywhere, from sofas and beds to poufs and chairs.
One of our favorite ways to get this glam look for a little less is with velvet dining chairs. Whether you use a full set of them around a dining table or just a couple as accents in a living room, they elevate their surroundings with an almost regal touch. It’s a vibe for sure, and these 10 velvet chairs can take your room there in an instant. The best part? There’s an option for just about every style of home, from Mid-Century Modern to Art Deco and everything in between.
Seeing Green
These emerald-colored cuties definitely have a 70s air about them. They’d look great with a simple parsons style dining table, so all eyes can be on their trendy channel back upholstery.
Old School Opulence
I could see these gray velvet chairs, which have medallion patterned backs and nailhead trim, as accents at the head of a big antique farmhouse table.
Airy Art Deco
Distressed velvet and a brass-finished steel frame give this chair an updated Art Deco feel. A single chair would be super pretty sitting in front of a vanity, but a set would be just as nice.
A Touch of Traditional Style
This guy is tufted and customizable, even down to even the nailheads. Acrylic legs keep the look light, while the performance velvet means it will stand up to plenty of meals.
Small Space Friendly
An armless style like the Rosa would be great in a small space, whether you park her at a desk or set a pair up opposite of your living room sofa.
Dramatic Dining
Talk about drama in the dining room—with a tall back and moody black hue, no one will be focusing on anything but these striking chairs.
Hollywood Glam
This one looks similar to a director’s chair, only with a graphic gold base and sleek velvet seat instead of something flimsy. In a word, it's way chicer.
Shine Bright Like a Diamond
The juxtaposition of velvet and printed cotton make this chair a real conversation piece.
Blush on a Budget
This budget-friendly set comes in five different colors, but the blush is my favorite. They’re all business and basic from the front, but they’re a party in the back with that harlequin stitching situation.
Slightly Sculptural
Metal meets velvet in these sculptural, airy chairs that would be great around a round table.
It’s kind of amazing how different velvet upholstery can look depending on the shape and other materials used to make a dining chair. No matter the silhouette though, one thing is for sure. Any of these options will bring a little glam to your space.
