These Cozy Waffle Towels Will Turn Your Bathroom Into a Spa

Our editors independently research, test, and recommend the best products; you can learn more about our review process here. We may receive commissions on purchases made from our chosen links.

Your towel is a major part of your shower experience, so you can’t just go picking any old option off the shelf. While your daily bathing routine might not feel luxurious, the best waffle towels can change that. Compared to terry cloth towels, waffle towels have a larger surface area thanks to their honeycomb design. While they certainly look beautiful, their construction makes them super functional, too.

Waffle towels trap moisture better and dry quicker than other types of towels. They’re also much more lightweight and breathable, so they'll stay fresher longer. If you're over ultra plush cotton towels that seem to stay damp for hours, waffle towels will be your new best friend.

Here, the best waffle towels.

Best Overall: Parachute Waffle Towel

Parachute Waffle Towels

Whether it’s for bedding, high-end décor, or, in this case, towels, there’s a reason Parachute keeps coming up again and again. Like the brand's other linens, Parachute's Waffle Towel has an ultra-soft feel and a minimalist design that transports you right from your bathroom into your favorite spa. Not literally, of course, but the 100 percent long-staple Turkish cotton is as dreamingly soft as it is absorbent.

Available in three classic colors—white, gray, and charcoal—and finished with a modern, slim-hem design, this towel can quickly level up any bathroom.

Best Budget: Madison Park 6-Piece Waffle Towel Set

Madison Park Waffle Comb Towels

The Madison Park Waffle Comb Towels are a great option if you want to buy the most economical set. One side has an all-over waffle jacquard design while the other side is your standard cotton terry, so you can have the best of both worlds. Although these towels are heavier than most others on the list, they’re still considered lightweight when compared to other towels of their size, so they’re a good middle ground.

Conveniently, the Madison Park Waffle Comb Towels are available in a set of six that includes two bath towels, two hand towels, and two washcloths, all in your choice of six muted earth tones.

Best Splurge: The Citizenry Imabari Waffle Towels

The Citizenry Imabari Waffle Towels

Made with an oversized waffle design, the Imabari Waffle Towel from The Citizenry is a step above the rest. Each towel is made with long-staple Pima cotton and crafted in a family-run mill in Japan that’s been in operation for 100 years. The end result is an expertly-crafted towel that’s as beautiful as it is functional.

The Imabari Waffle Towel is more breathable and absorbent than similar options, yet it also feels delicate and soft to the touch. It comes in five neutral colors—white, gray, indigo, olive, and natural—and is sold in sets of two.

Best Bath Sheet: Brooklinen Waffle Bath Sheets

Waffle Towel

Brooklinen may be known best for bedding, but their waffle towels are worth adding to your linen closet too. Made in Turkey from 100 percent Turkish cotton, Brooklinen's waffle towel is lightweight, fast-drying, and super absorbent. At an oversized 40 x 65 inches, it's also large enough to wrap around your whole body, so you can truly gain that spa-like experience at home.

This towel comes in six different colors, and be purchased in sets of two or in a bundle with two hand towels and a matching bath mat.

Best Organic: Pact Waffle Bath Towel

Pact Waffle Bath Towels

If you love the design of waffle towels but aren’t a huge fan of the lighter material, you can get the best of both worlds with Pact's Waffle Bath Towel. Like standard bath linens, this towel is made from terry cotton, but finished with a waffle texture that makes it lighter, softer, and quicker-drying than other terry cotton towels. Plus, the cotton is organic and Fair Trade-certified, so you can feel especially good about your purchase.

The towel comes in seven colors, and you can purchase them individually or opt for the set, which includes two bath towels (or two bath sheets, your choice), two hand towels, and two washcloths.

Best Bamboo: ettitude Organic Bamboo Lyocell Waffle Bath Towel

ettitude Organic Bamboo Lyocell Waffle Bath Towel

Made from 100 percent organic bamboo, the Ettitude Waffle Towel is soft, breathable, hypoallergenic, and gentle on delicate skin. The honeycomb design pulls moisture into a base layer that’s covered with additional fabric, making it more absorbent and moisture-wicking than your average bathroom towel. And as you dry off, the weave design gently exfoliates your skin, leaving you feeling soft and smooth after every shower.

The towel comes in four sizes—face cloth, hand towel, bath towel, and bath sheet—and two neutral colors—cream and gray—so it'll fit in nicely with any décor.

Best Linen: Rough Linen Waffle Linen Bath Towel

Waffle Linen Bath Towel

Linen is a naturally lightweight, quick-drying material, so combining it with a waffle weave is a no brainer if you really want something airy and absorbent. Rough Linen's Waffle Linen Towel is the best of the bunch, with a 100 percent linen construction and luxe waffle weave that'll dry in record time.

Currently available in two colors, this towel is definitely expensive—linen in general is pricier than cotton, and products from luxury brands like Rough Linen will come with a heftier price tag. If you're willing to splurge, you'll get a towel that's comfortable, lightweight, and built to last for years.

Best Lightweight: Snowe Honeycomb Bath Towel

Honeycomb Bath Towel

Snowe's Honeycomb Bath Towel is a one-of-a-kind puckered texture waffle towel that’s soft, stretchy, and ultra-absorbent. Made with 100 percent long-staple cotton from Italy, these bath towels are one of the most lightweight towels out there, so they’re easy to roll up and bring with you to the gym or on a trip.

This towel comes in three classic colors—white, gray, and slate blue—and has a minimalist design that makes an excellent upgrade to your bathroom without stealing the show. If you love these towels, check out the matching bathrobe as well.

Best Colors: West Elm Organic Cotton Towel

West Elm Organic Cotton Towels

West Elm’s Organic Cotton Towel is the upgrade your bathroom needs. It has a deep weaved honeycomb texture and is certified Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, which means it's been tested by a third-party lab and verified to be safe from over 300 harmful substances that you might find in other towels. Aside from being soft and absorbent, this towel comes in seven colors, from basic white to rich navy and copper, to complete your bathroom's look.

Best Double-Sided: Serena & Lily St. Helena Bath Towel

St. Helena Bath Towel

If you don't want to fully commit to the waffle weave life, there are several options out there for you (including two others on this list). One of the best, though, is Serena & Lily's St. Helena Bath Towel, which is made from 100 percent Turkish cotton. The towel has a waffle weave front and a terrycloth back, both of which are seriously soft, cozy, and absorbent. Plus, it's certified by OEKO-TEX Standard 100, so you know it's free from harmful materials.

The only downside is that this towel is only available in white, but the rounded edges give it some personality to make up for the lack of color options. You can purchase it individually or in two sets: The Essential Bath Set includes two washcloths, two hand towels, and two bath towels, while the Luxury Bath Set includes four washcloths, four hand towels, four bath towels, and one bath mat.

Best Decorative: Allswell Stonewashed Waffle Towel

Allswell Stonewashed Waffle Towels

The Allswell Stonewashed Waffle Towel is made from 100 percent cotton, and looks more like a throw blanket than a bath towel. In true waffle towel fashion, it’s ultra-absorbent, but the special stone washing process also makes it super soft—and it gets softer the more you wash it. It also has a fringed edge that adds to the aesthetic, while the muted white, gray, and blush color options are great for any design scheme

You can choose from four sizes—washcloth, hand towel, bath towel, and bath sheet—and if you want to go all in, you can even get a matching stonewashed waffle bathrobe.

Best on Amazon: Gilden Tree Premium Waffle Weave Bath Towels

Gilden Tree Premium Waffle Weave Bath Towels

Made with 100 percent cotton with a tight, European-style waffle weave, the Gilden Tree Waffle Weave Bath Towel is one of the best waffle towels you can find on Amazon. It's designed to dry quickly between uses, so it stays fresh and clean for longer—even when you probably should have washed it two showers ago.

This towel is available in eight colors, from classic white to a bright coral, and is sold in sets of two. Take note that they're generously sized at 32 x 62 inches, but will shrink a bit after washing.

Final Verdict

Overall, we recommend Parachute's Waffle Towel (view at Parachute) for its superior softness, impressive absorbency, and quality construction. If you're looking for something more budget-friendly, we recommend Madison Park's Waffle Comb Towel Set (view at Amazon), which comes with six towels and costs less than $60.

What to Look For in a Waffle Towel

Most waffle towels are made of cotton, but you can also find towels made from plant fibers (like bamboo lyocell) and even linen. Look for long-staple cotton, which is stronger than the more generic short-staple fibers, and results in a softer, more luxurious feel. Organic cotton towels certified by OEKO-TEX and GOTS are typically more expensive, but worth it if you're concerned with sustainability—especially since cotton is not a very eco-friendly material to begin with.

While you can find plenty of cotton bath towels priced under $10, the options narrow once you focus exclusively on waffle weave towels. Expect to pay around $20 for a quality waffle towel, and more if you want a linen, organic, or luxury brand towel. Places like Amazon sell cheaper options, but those are typically made with inferior short-staple cotton that isn't as soft or as durable as long-staple.

Towel weight is measured in GSM, or grams per square meter. While plush terry cotton towels tend to weigh between 620-900 GSM, waffle weave towels are much lighter, and will typically be around 300-400 GSM. The lower you go, the lighter the towel will be—but that doesn't necessarily mean a lighter towel is flimsy. In fact, lighter towels are typically quick-drying and absorbent, and certainly not a mark of bad quality.
