When you think about the sheer number of people in this world, the prospect of finding the right person to spend the rest of your life with feels incredibly daunting. In other words, we'll take all the help we can get. A new survey from ReportLinker gives us some much-needed insight into the common ways in which people go about finding their significant other, and considering our increasingly digital landscape, we were pleasantly surprised with the findings.

The survey ultimately found that the most common way married or dating couples met their partner was through mutual friends, with 39% of the 551 online respondents selecting this option. Meeting at work claimed second place (15%), followed by bars, coffee shops, and other public places (12%), sports or hobbies (9%), and the internet or dating apps (8%).

"Further good news is that [these] relationships, whether the couple is married or not, seem to last. Almost half of respondents … have been together for more than seven years," adds ReportLinker of its new data. "While the internet has changed our search for 'the one,' it hasn't obliterated tried-and-true methods."
