If you've ever wondered why Brooklyn has become the epicenter of artisanal, crafted furniture, look no further than the BK Maker Sale. With only seven days left in the summer sale, it's in your best interest to visit their website and splurge on the many handmade products on offer, while simultaneously supporting local small businesses.
Among the many artisans you'll find Rosie Li, a Brooklyn-based designer whose studio "forgoes traditional lamp design for building systems driven by science and mathematics, constructing fixtures using modular parts with a focus on simple geometry and pared-down forms."
Also on hand is VOLK, a wood-centric design company that uses unexpected details to enhance its meticulously crafted wood furniture. According to its website, "each VOLK design is unique and carefully considered to showcase the quality of the hand-selected materials."
DLV meanwhile, is the brainchild of Mark and Maggie de la Vega, the husband-and-wife team whose eye-popping creations are deeply rooted in early modernism and Art Deco. The company's inception was "a total leap of faith," according to Maggie. Other brands available at the BK Maker Sale include Andrea Claire, Asher Israelow, and Patrick Weder. Make sure to cop their goods before it ends on September 1.
