>Between her fashion site (Style Native) and her new series that just aired on Bravo, Brandi Cyrus has been working on a lot of exciting projects. As home décor enthusiasts, we're particularly excited to peek inside her recently renovated and redecorated home. And lucky for us, she's inviting all the MyDomaine readers to take a virtual tour today. Located in the in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, Cyrus's country-cottage style home is a Bohemian dream.
>"I love rustic-boho designs, and I've also spent enough time in California to appreciate modern design, clean lines, and contemporary color schemes," she tells us. By bringing those two aspects of her style together, she's created an end result that's stylish and packed with personality yet relatable to many. Plus, Cyrus "wanted to keep as much of the original character as possible but also add updates in the design to make it feel a little rustic, a little modern, and, most importantly, unique." Mission accomplished.
>With unexpected little nooks, exposed columns, and cozy hangouts around every corner, it feels like a tree-house hideaway from childhood that got a chic, adult-friendly makeover. Ready to see for yourself? Scroll through below for the grand tour of the eldest Cyrus sibling's home, and see how this country star turned her urban abode into a stylish Bohemian escape.
The Eclectic Living Room
>This is one of Cyrus's favorite rooms in the entire house, and we can definitely see why. In fact, that buttery cognac sofa was the first piece that she purchased for the home. "It's the centerpiece of my living room, and I really decorated the entire downstairs around it," she tells MyDomaine. We're also huge fans of the hanging lantern. Considering how perfect it looks, we're pretty surprised that it was a DIY project of sorts. She explains that "it was meant to hold a candle, but [she] bought a swag-style light bulb and dropped it into the votive to turn it into a light fixture!" Clever and chic.
For an On-Trend Living Room:
The Country-Chic Dining Area
>In this room, we can definitely see the influences of eclectic boho and clean California that creates a unique and transitional hybrid of styles. The crisp white walls, dark floors, and modern lighting feel very coastal, while décor pieces like Southwestern cushions and throws create a contrast that blends together perfectly for a cohesive look with just the right amount of quirkiness.
The Minimalist Kitchen
>Cyrus explains that this home went through some pretty major renovations. After gutting it out, she made a few key decisions, like painting all the walls white. As you can see here, the kitchen is flooding with natural light, which makes the white walls and countertops feel even fresher. "The house is small," Cyrus says, "and white walls, countertops, and cabinets make the whole space seem bigger and brighter." The brass hardware brings in a sense of personality without adding clutter, and that little stereo in the back is perfect for cooking parties, solo and otherwise.
For a Cool, Livable Kitchen:
The Perfect Hideaway
>Consistent with the rest of the home, the white walls amplify the entire room while the accents like the exposed brick column introduce a touch of rustic homeyness. We also love how the Southwestern area rug, velvet blush-hued duvet, and cowhide floor throw soften things up. The splash of pink on the back wall is also a great addition that highlights the bedding without using too much color.
For a Balanced Bedroom:
The Chilled-Out Loft
>Another aspect of the renovation was "adding six inches of height to the entire second floor and putting in an addition to the upstairs loft space," Cyrus shares. Though this gorgeous space was worth all the extra effort, she admits that "it took about three times longer to complete this renovation" than she had initially hoped for. So time was definitely the most challenging part of the project. In fact, during this three-month interval, Cyrus and her dogs were "stuck staying with friends until [the] house became livable."
For a Relaxing Hangout Spot:
The Peaceful Bathroom
>One of the best aspects of this home is all the natural light. As someone who travels a lot for her career, Cyrus says this makes for a particularly warm welcome home. "I'm always so happy to come home to it after staying in dark hotel rooms," she explains. "There's something about all of the windows and the fact that the house is surrounded by trees that almost makes you feel like you're outside when all of the window shades are open." With angled ceilings, a whimsical footed tub, and cheerful blue floor tiles, this bathroom feels like it's nestled atop a bed of trees in the sunshine (with a lot more privacy in lieu of exposure, of course).
For a Blissful Bathroom:
The Charming Deck Space
This fun outdoor hangout area was another one of the additions to the home, along with a screened-in porch connected to the back of the house. We imagine a lot of fun fireside chats with friends and family in this comfortable yet photoshoot-ready deck. It's the perfect place to entertain or nestle up with a good book to unwind.
