Do you ever feel like you're on a roller coaster without brakes? Well, it's time you found out where those brakes are and showed life who's in charge. We are always so caught up in everything that needs to be done—the to-do list continues to grow—that it's easy to lose focus and feel out of control. Huffington Post listed a few little things that can make a huge difference every day. It's time to welcome peace and calmness back into our lives.
If You Don't Need It, Get Rid of It
Our homes are overwhelmed with so many things that quite often we can end up feeling consumed by them. Don't let your interior swallow you up; cleanse your life by throwing out, selling, or donating anything you don't need. You'll be amazed at how calm you'll feel post-chuck. It's a great anxiety buster too.
Are those bills still scattered all over your bedroom floor? Are your kitchen drawers overflowing with paperwork? It's time to file them properly and get organized. Find a simple filing cabinet or folder that's easy to access so you can file them away as soon as they come in the door. If you know where to find something, quickly, it makes such a huge difference to your state of mind. It's time to replace panic with placidity.
Ask Yourself "Do I Really Need This?"
Now that you've thrown away everything you don't need, it's time to appreciate this simpler space, not replace them with more things. Next time you're about to buy something, just ask yourself, "Is this something I need or something I want?" and "Will I actually use this?" We bet most of the time it's the latter. Stick to purchasing items you are going to use. Your bank balance and conscience will thank you later.
Think "Me" More Often
We are all prone to checking our work emails after hours, but it's time to forgo that quick look before bed and read a book instead. It's important to remember that you are so much more than what you do, so take time to nurture yourself, because you're worth it.
Find Time to Be Still
If meditation isn't your jam, then find something similar that helps you to relax and quiets your mind. Being present in the moment is life-changing to your physical, emotional, and physiological health. It could even be going for a walk with your favorite tunes playing, or just listening to nature and letting it all go.
