Entertaining is at the core of what Camille Styles loves to do, so when a member of her team shared that she was pregnant, she jumped at the chance to throw a baby shower. "The girls and I threw Caroline a baby shower inspired by the tropics, incorporating textural woven materials and rattan to give it an on-trend boho twist," she tells MyDomaine.
The gorgeous event might look like an expensive, high-end affair, but Styles reveals she sourced all the décor from Target. Yes, it's 100% shoppable: Everything from the layered table runners and plates to the ottomans and throw pillows is from the affordable retailer, expertly chosen and styled by Styles and her team.
Ahead, the entertaining pro shares her tips to elevate any event and the Target products to add to your cart now.
"Tropical plants (both real and faux!) made easy, affordable décor that the mom-to-be could easily take home to enjoy after the shower," says Styles.
She continued the theme when decorating the centerpiece, opting for greenery over flowers. "For an effortless centerpiece, we placed oversize tropical leaves in striped ceramic vases—always a foolproof combination."
"Drinks with a tropical vibe add such a fun element to any warm-weather party," says Styles. "We ordered pitchers of Turmeric Ginger Tonic and served it in pretty blue tumblers garnished with a mini pineapple stir stick."
"Mocktails for the mama-to-be are an affordable way to add a festive element," she says. "Garnishes like tropical fruit, mini pineapple stir sticks, and paper parasols make sure she doesn't miss out on any of the fun and make the party totally Instagram-worthy."
The tropical theme continued with the menu. "The centerpiece of the menu was fish tacos—a total crowd-pleaser and perfect for sharing on a big wood platter in the middle of the table," says Styles.
"We filled out the rest of the menu with a chopped kale salad, charred vegetables, and lime raspberry tarts for a sweet ending that felt light and summery."
"For an effortless bohemian vibe, layer a narrow runner on top of a wider runner down the center of the table," she recommends. "I couldn't decide between [two], so I used them both. The more texture, the better!
If you only add one item to your cart, it should be Threshold's 3-tier stand, says Styles. "I'm loving everything rattan right now, and this stand is one of the most functional pieces I own. At under $50, I'm considering buying multiples! It serves triple duty as a side table next to my couch, a bedside stand, and in this case, a perch for drinks at a party."
Unsure when to splurge and save on a baby shower? Styles recommends saving money on the venue so you can invest in the décor, which you'll be able to use well after the party is over. "Instead of renting a pricey venue, deck out a cozy booth at a favorite restaurant to fit your party's theme by bringing in your own table runner, throw pillows, and candlesticks. This way, you can focus on your guest of honor while leaving food and cleanup to the pros!" she says.
Be sure to leave your guests with a little keepsake to remind them of the day. "I love putting together cute party favors," she says. "Guests took home cocktail kits complete with this pineapple shot glass and cocktail syrup packed into each of these chic round woven baskets so they're all set to make festive drinks all summer long!" That's one gift that certainly won't gather dust.
