When it comes to décor, traditional design has been having a bit of a resurgence lately. And for blogger and Target Home Style Expert Camille Styles, the holidays are a great time to embrace those classic styles we all know and love.
"Sometimes it just feels right to stick with tradition, and for me, Christmas is one of those times," Styles tells MyDomaine. "That said, an evergreen and red color palette can still feel fresh when set against a palette of white and neutrals. I also love these pops of blush I scattered throughout to give a slightly feminine touch to our holiday décor this year."

In her own living room, Styles expertly paired classic holiday motifs with a few unexpected elements to create a space that feels festive, but family-friendly and inviting at the same time.
"Since I’ll be hosting friends and family for lots of gatherings this season, the vision was for it to be warm and relaxed, inviting guests to kick off their shoes and cozy up in front of the fire," she says.
To create that fireside holiday oasis, Styles decided to switch things up and go for a mis-matched assortment of stockings, which she paired with more traditional touches.
"I went with simple, statement-making décor on our mantel this year, and the overall effect just makes me happy," she says. "I hung this red berry wreath overtop of the mirror and draped a flocked garland along the top of the mantel—and since they’re both faux, I can pack them up and use them again next year."
When it comes time for Styles to update her home for the holidays, her children are routinely her biggest motivators and helpers.
"I think their second favorite day of the year—after Christmas morning—is the day we haul all the boxes of holiday décor down from the attic. Sometimes it feels like more work to involve them—especially my four-year-old—but I take a deep breath and remind myself to enjoy the process. Mugs of hot cocoa, “Santa Baby” on the stereo, and a huge box of ornaments in the living room? This is what holiday memories are made of."

So it's should come as no surprise that keeping her holiday décor decidedly family friendly is a priority for Styles.
Of course, there's another concern that comes into play when decorating for the holidays: budget constraints. For people looking to add some festive cheer to their homes without breaking the bank, Styles suggests picking out a smaller tree and stocking up on a few special ornaments. You can then fill in any gaps with twinkle lights and tinsel.
"And instead of buying lots of little accessories, my strategy is to focus on just a couple of statement-making areas—say, the front door and the mantel—and drape a beautiful faux garland or hang a wreath," she says. "It’s a great way to easily infuse your home with so much festivity, while getting major bang for your buck."
