A Curated Collection of Vintage Home Décor Is Coming to CB2—and It Will Sell Out

Vintage products will always be timeless home décor elements. Pieces from the past can be used in just about any home to add interest, tell a story, and simply look aesthetically pleasing. Whether your home is wildly eclectic, traditional, modern, contemporary, or something in between, the addition of vintage décor can enhance your existing style.

However, the prospect of hunting through flea markets, thrift stores, and even online retailers that sell vintage pieces en masse like 1stdibs and Chairish can be rather intimidating, especially if you're new to the vintage game. Luckily, CB2 recently announced an exciting collaboration with interior designer and collector Charlie Ferrer and the new partnership marks CB2's foray into vintage décor.

Ahead, we chat with the president of CB2, Ryan Turf, and Ferrer himself about the new offerings, the collaborative process, and what it's like to go vintage shopping in Europe. Plus, take a first look at a few of the pieces now available as part of the new collection.

The new collection offers truly one-of-a-kind pieces of rare vintage décor. Each and every item was handpicked by Ferrer and the CB2 team in Europe, meaning that each has its own origin story and background. Because the pieces were handpicked, you can also trust that the collection will feature a highly curated array of products that meet the standards of Ferrer and CB2, while representing a combination of Ferrer's classic style and CB2's modernity.

"CB2 is filled with educated, curious, and design-obsessed people so our interest in vintage and unique design comes naturally, Turf tells MyDomaine. "We always want to educate our customers, keep our assortment current, and help our community express their personality at home," he continues, explaining why now was the right time for CB2 to expand into vintage offerings. "We want to empower our customers to be collectors and edit on their own in new and informed ways," Turf adds.

Inspired by European travel and design, the collection is an assortment of furniture and accessories from a variety of regions abroad. According to Turf, he and his team were influenced by their personal travels and love of European vintage. "We wanted to offer these unique products to CB2 shoppers," he explains.

Ferrer was also influenced by his love of vintage design. "My inspiration was my passion for mixing pieces of different styles and disparate periods," the designer and collector tells MyDomaine. "I love the idea of importing vintage European design to the U.S. retail market to bring a sense of spontaneity and discovery to the consumer—to share the thrill of shopping a vintage flea market," Ferrer continues.

"These incredibly beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces are as modern today as they were in the mid-1900s," Turf explains. According to him, despite their unique origins, each piece can fit seamlessly into any existing décor. His personal favorite is a chrome and leather chaise lounge chair. "It's sculptural, minimal, and comfortable—the perfect piece to go along with pre-existing furniture and accessories," Turf notes.

Ferrer explains that he and Turf worked closely with local vintage dealers in Europe in order to source the very best products for their collaboration. "Ryan and I were fortunate to get to know our dealer partners on a personal level," he says. "He and I visited dealers in Berlin, Maastricht, and Milan together to select pieces that feel timeless and relevant today.”

According to Ferrer, styling old and new furnishings and accessories in the same space is a great way to incorporate vintage pieces into your home. "By pairing historical pieces with news items, customers can create an unexpected look and a fresh point of view," he explains. “This collection will resonate with customers who appreciate thoughtful design and want to make their personal mix more interesting, challenging, and sophisticated," the designer continues.
