Summer mightn't have relinquished her sweltering grip, but CB2's latest catalog is welcome reassurance that fall is on its way. The home décor authority has just released images of its new season furniture and accessories, a brooding, European-inspired editorial that provides a glimpse at some of the top trends that'll likely find their way into our cart and home.
"This season is all about big, confident design that kind of dares you to take risks," CB2's President Ryan Turf tells MyDomaine. "While we always push ourselves creatively and aim to inspire our shoppers in cool new ways, this season really delivers on a new level. The pieces are rich, the collection is edited but the mix of styles and materials allows you to be really unexpected in your design choices."
A first look at the collection reveals some of our favorite tried-and-true fall trends—jewel tones, brass, velvet, and marble all feature—as well as unexpected additions. Among them are vintage-look linens by fashion designer Matthew Williamson, emerald accessories, and sumptuous sofas in sculptural shapes. Here are just a few of the key trends we gleaned from their fall editorial.
It's time to rethink that old, lumpy couch—CB2's new fall furniture will make any standard sofa look lackluster. The latest offerings all have sculptural silhouettes inspired by French and Italian design. "We're really inspired by street style [and] those incredibly stylish people who make it all look so effortless," says Turf. But how do you translate fashion trends in the home? "To us, that translated into a collection of unexpected, cool pieces that feel boutiquey but with a European sensibility," he explains.
EMERALD AND OLIVE
Jewel tones tend to re-emerge in the home space every fall, but CB2 predicts one shade will dominate: green. "Color is so personal but the different shades of green are my favorites," says Turf. "Whether it’s the spruce green velvet armchair or the olive green leather sofa the color are both classic and of the moment."
TEXTURE, TEXTURE, TEXTURE
Fall is the ideal time to introduce textured items to your home to make it feel cozier and inviting. From sheepskin throws and faux-fur rugs to raw-wood headboards and leather sofas, texture was top-of-mind for CB2's design team. "Good design always incorporates a combination of textures and materials," says Turf. "This season's star pieces include different varieties of marble and meticulously crafted bone-in-lay. We also have some cement pieces and, as always, a healthy dose of heavy metal."
Channel tufting might be associated with '80s décor, but the trend is coming back in a big way. CB2 acknowledged the trend with two star pieces: a channel tufted velvet sofa in charcoal and buttery leather. Flank the sofa with tropical plants, as shown in both interiors below, and add color with throw cushions.
