You don’t have to be a man, or even a subscriber, to appreciate the sleek, streamlined, and classic style that GQ epitomizes. And, you certainly don’t need to be a man to appreciate the new mid-century inspired collection of furniture and accessories collaboratively launched this week by the Condé Nast publication along with one of our favorite affordable yet functional home purveyors: CB2. The CB2 + GQ collection is officially here, and it’s everything you would imagine it to be — timeless, tasteful, and subtly statement-making.
The collection incorporates the iconic industrial feel, clean lines and mixed materials—think iron, oak, leather, and black chrome—from the ‘30s, ‘70s, and ‘80s, adding a modern, and somewhat traditional update. The collection takes a curated approach to home design—all the items go together, but are in no way matchy-matchy. It’s basically how your closet should function, explains Jim Moore, Creative Director at Large for GQ.
“The person with the great personal style is always that one who’s not too coordinated,” he says about the collection. “It’s the same idea with your home. You want to walk into your space and be like, this is a really interesting mix.”
The standout piece of the collection is the Kotka Tobacco Tufted Leather Sofa, which is basically that leather jacket, just in furniture form. You know, the one you splurge on, that goes with anything and everything (even when it doesn’t!) and looks better the more it is lived in. Constructed out of rich, lightly oiled, super soft leather, its exaggerated round legs really set it apart from similar sofas and give it a truly vintage, men’s club vibe.
Other items range from affordable bath accessories and linens to a really cool mesh bed frame. All of them are truly unique, statement-making and will never go out of style—like the magazine itself.
Available in two hues—tobacco leather and black leather—this sofa and matching chair are basically the classic leather jacket of the CB2 + GQ collection. You might have to splurge a little on this relaxed leather sofa that oozes vintage charm, but it will never go out of style.
