Summer is fast approaching, so we have backyard barbecues, outdoor cocktail parties, and leisurely lounging on our minds. Who doesn’t love a stylishly decorated personal sanctuary surrounded by nature’s beauty? Through the years, we have had the pleasure of touring some of the chicest celebrity homes, and while their indoor furnishings always blow us away, the outside scenery doesn’t disappoint either. Are you considering a backyard refresh or preparing to throw a summer soirée? To this moment, we’re still inspired by the decorative schemes of the stars. Perhaps Dianna Agron’s Zen, spa-like pool area setting will spark your interest, or maybe Constance Zimmer’s statement chairs and striped rug are right up your alley. Ahead, see additional outdoor spaces from some of our favorite influencers to get your creative wheels spinning.
Dianna Agron’s French garden–themed space is nothing short of romantic and charming. The actress told us, “I knew I wanted the color story to be blue,” an excellent choice for a tranquil lounge area by her pool. To achieve her look in your own yard, simply surround your chaises with wood lanterns and floating votives to set the scene.
When we toured Constance Zimmer’s home last summer, the UnReal actress told us she was going for a “Santa Barbara–Spanish vibe.” Her bold orange dining chairs, floral arrangements, and reclaimed wood table certainly capture this and have us craving an intimate summer gathering. If you’re a fan of Zimmer’s style, you can re-create her alfresco dining space by shopping these standouts and adding a chic striped rug into the equation.
Rachel Pally is no stranger to florals and boho-chic style—the California-cool designer often incorporates these themes into each of her collections. Naturally, we wouldn’t expect any different at her home. Last summer we were invited to attend one of her stunning backyard gatherings, where we fell in love with her luxury-meets-rustic environment. Our favorite aspect of the space? Her pod hanging chair decked out in flowers by Bloom & Plume. Hit up CB2 fast for your very own hanging chair, and decorate according to your personal taste.
Earlier this year, fashion and lifestyle blogger Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior opened the doors to her Los Angeles home so we could get a look at her latest renovation. If you love midcentury modern design, then you will absolutely drool over all the cool furniture in her home. In terms of her outside space, we fell for her industrial table-and-bench pairing surrounded by garden greenery and additional pops of color. You can mimic her laid-back dining area by accessorizing your neutral furniture with a standout throw and colorful tableware.
Rachel Ashwell, designer and the brains behind the Shabby Chic franchise, invited us to her Malibu weekend home last fall, and we’re still not over the cozy atmosphere and sweet pastel touches. “It is important to me that I create an environment that is both inviting and comfortable while maintaining attention to details,” Ashwell said. Inviting it certainly is, and we’d like to kick up our feet and lounge on her vintage-style bench all summer long. You can capture her aesthetic by shopping chic antique-inspired pieces and working with a light color palette.
The Great. and Current/Elliott founder and stylist Meritt Elliott has a honed attention to detail. Last August, in celebration of her husband John Rankin’s launch of Boomtown Brewery, the pair invited their closest friends over for outdoor dining and drinks, where we arrived to scope out the scene. Not at all to our surprise, her backyard décor was perfectly polished, with charismatic accents ranging from bell jar planters and gilded terrariums to glam elements like her shiny gold lamp. Add a round industrial coffee table into the mix and you’ll be relaxing in a similar setting in no time.
