You may be able to make your dream Hawaiian getaway a reality at a fraction of the price. As Sunset reports, United Airlines will add 11 more routes to the central Pacific islands in celebration of its 70th anniversary this year, making them the carrier with the most direct flights from the U.S. to Hawaii.
Fortunately, the expansion will go into effect later this year on December 20, which is exactly when we're itching to ditch the frigid temperatures and replenish our vitamin D stores. To give you an idea of how much more frequent these flights will be, flights to Kahului, Lihue, and Kona from Denver will bump from seasonal service only to year-round daily flights.
The hope here is that United's move will force other airlines, like Hawaiian Air, to drop their notoriously expensive prices in order to compete. "The flight search site Skyscanner confirmed that fares are still stable—but as these new routes come into effect at the end of the year, a decline is likely," Sunset explains.
