Given the many studies that prove the benefits of having a dog, canines have certainly earned their place as our best friends and trusted companions. Happy dog owners are obsessed with treating their fur babies to chic dining accessories, five-star care, and stylish getaways—and now, one company is rewarding devoted pup parents with the same benefits as its employees with children.

Thrillist recently shed a light on BrewDog, which is reportedly the first brewery in the U.S. and UK to offer one full week of paid "paw-ternity leave" to employees with new puppies. The Scotland-based company made the announcement on Twitter and told USA Today that they "wanted to take the stress out of the situation and let our teams take the time they need to welcome their new puppy or dog into their family."

According to BrewDog's website, the Scottish beer brand was founded 10 years ago by two guys and a dog and now provide jobs for over 1000 people around the globe. Co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie explained that their new K9-focused perk falls in line with their goal to become "the best company to work for, ever."
