Interior designers and other experts in the home industry work on an impressive number of spaces throughout their careers. But even if some of the makeovers and redesigns start to blend together after a few years, there are some rooms that are just truly unforgettable.
So, to give designers a chance to revisit their favorite projects—and to bring you plenty of inspiration for your own home—we’re sharing the one room these pros will remember forever. For some, there’s a sentimental connection, for others, there was an obstacle they never thought they’d overcome. But no matter what, these rooms are worth remembering.

Every space comes with its own design challenges, but sometimes those challenges are the exact things that make the space most memorable. For Candace Mary Griffin of Candace Mary Interiors, the challenges came with shipping delays, virtual design, and pulling off a space on a time crunch. But, the Detroit-based interior designer worked through them all, completing a renovation of this lofted bedroom and home office through it all.
"I typically love the final step in a design project when I shop for styling and finishing pieces (pillows, art, throws, etc.) but I couldn't do that due to vendor delays," Griffin shares. "Instead, I had to order the items online—which makes it harder to visualize how they will all come together—and go to smaller boutiques with appointment-only options. It ended up being pretty tricky to pull it all together in a timely manner."
Through all of the challenges, Griffin pulled together a beautiful, chic, and functional office space for her client in Plymouth, Michigan.
"I love the high ceilings and the lofted bedroom that overlooks the office space," Griffin tells MyDomaine. "We were able to mix varying wood tones, texture, and color to connect the two spaces. Each room has its own personality, but they come together seamlessly."

One of the most striking pieces in the room is this gorgeous raw-edge desk, which was custom-made for her client.
"There were moments where I second-guessed myself, but I’m glad I followed my gut," Griffin says. "Some of those decisions turned out to be my favorite parts of the design."
Griffin describes this room as "sleek, swanky, and flirty," and we'd have to agree. From the velvet office chair to the gold and brass accents, this room packs plenty of personality.
"No matter what the style preference is of my clients, I always want a space to feel functional and polished, and have that cool factor," Griffin explains. "We were able to accomplish that here. Although I typically lean towards a more neutral color palette, this project inspired me to take more risks with color combos."

The room wouldn't be complete without perfectly styled bookcases, and a very cool cheetah figurine. Though Griffin typically goes for a more modern look, she added more romantic pieces in this space to fit the client's taste.
"This project pushed me slightly out of my comfort zone because my client has more of a feminine design style than me (think romantic and glam)," Griffin says. "I usually lean more towards clean and modern looks. We both like a little edge though, which helped us marry our aesthetics."

Though it wasn't the easiest project to pull together, Griffin loves the finished product.
"I love how eclectic yet polished the room feels," Griffin says. "It has a completely laidback vibe but is still fit for a boss. That's exactly the vibe my client wanted and after much brainstorming, we nailed it. This property is special to me because it was unlike any other space I've done and we were able to get it done during a really challenging time."
