The time has come for all of your Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights dreams to come true. JetBlue is the first major airline to operate direct flights from the United States to Havana. On Friday, July 3, about 60 passengers, including many Cuban New Yorkers, celebrated JetBlue’s maiden voyage from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Havana’s José Martí International Airport. The weekly charter flight will take off every Friday around noon. And while you cannot visit Cuba as a tourist, you can visit the island for one of 12 “purposeful travel” reasons, such as journalism, education, and family visits. So pick a purpose, pack your bags, and be sure to visit as many colorful Cuban homes as possible. Havana may just be the most photogenic city you’ve ever visited.
