At MyDomaine, we understand the importance of designing a home you love—one that you're proud to live in and proud to show off to friends and family. But even with that intrinsic desire to host, actually entertaining at home can sometimes feel overwhelming and intimidating.

So, to make opening up your home a little less stressful, we’re sharing the recipes, products, and simple tips that we go back to every time we entertain. Happy hosting!

Confession time: I order takeout a lot

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy cooking and even have a few go-to dishes in my repertoire. But between my teeny, tiny microfridge that can only hold so many groceries and a traveling schedule that could almost rival George Clooney’s character in Up in the Air, I simply don’t have the time or space to flex my culinary muscle as much as I'd like.

So on the rare occasion I am whipping something up from scratch, I need to find a recipe that’s easy to make and requires minimal ingredients. Fortunately, my mom’s dill and onion dip meets both requirements—oh, and it’s crazy delicious.

Okay, it’s technically not my mom’s recipe. She picked it up from my dad’s side of the family and has been making it ever since. Packed with flavor—but not too much that you’ll get tired of the taste profile—it’s the perfect addition to anything from crackers to crudité. (In fact, I may or may not have devoured this dip and an entire box of Wheat Thins in one sitting.)

“Delicious, easy to make, and a real crowd pleaser,” my mom texts. “Win-win!”

So, how do you make this game-changing dip? Start off by mixing equal parts mayonnaise and sour cream. While you can add more of one ingredient if you’d like, you ultimately want to wind up with a smooth, off-whtie base. From there, all you need to do is sprinkle minced onion and dried dill weed to your taste preference. (Pro tip: I like to add a lot of both.)

Sure, you can chop fresh onions and dill by hand, but my mom always purchased the pre-packaged minced onion and dried dill spices from the grocery store. And voila: Your delicious dip is ready to be devoured. (Yes, it’s that easy.)

Ever since I graduated from college and moved into my first grown-up apartment, my mom’s dill dip has become one of my go-to recipes for both potlucks and low-key hangouts. One of my friends, who I’ve known since college, begged me to bring the dip to her Super Bowl party last year.

“It is perfect for any party, like the LBD of vegetable dips because you can never go wrong,” she explains.

Not only is this dip easy and delicious, but it’s really easy to alter the proportions. Since you’re working with so few ingredients, you can easily adjust the recipe to make a small bowl for yourself or a huge platter for a party.

Now all that’s left to do is whip out your favorite veggies or crackers and get dipping. Bon Appetit!
