When the lights go down and the cameras are off, every Hollywood actress needs a sanctuary retreat. This is exactly what Los Angeles–based interior designer Rachel Meadows envisioned when she styled this Laurel Canyon home. Meadows designed a stylish refuge that reflected her starlet client’s unique personality without compromising the architectural style and history of the midcentury ranch-style home. A light blue sofa became the starting point for the color scheme, mixing tonal blues and complementary greens with a hint of dusty rose throughout each room. “This house has a very eclectic design style, so I used a few different colors while keeping within a tonal family, then grounding those colors with a neutral color, such as white,” she told MyDomaine.
This surprisingly varied color palette turned out to be her biggest challenge during the decorating process. “When I initially started this project, it was a bit out of my comfort zone to use bold color,” she adds. “I typically like to design with a neutral palette. Now, I love using color and am not afraid to use it! It really captures my client’s personality. Especially the deep green velvets and bold blue wall—they make a statement.” Scroll down to see more of this gorgeous bohemian space.
