It was quite a year for interior design. Thanks to extended periods of time spent in our homes, decorators suddenly had the urge to revamp everything about them. We spent the past year embracing current trends, like all things cozy, neutral, and textural, (yes, our crush on Scandi style still perseveres). But now, it's time to usher in some fresh, new trend predictions for 2022.

Here to share some home trends that have been on the rise and are ready for their 2022 debut is Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson. She monitored the search queries on Etsy in 2021 and rounds up the searches that have risen the most in the home space. From gorgeous lighting to chic décor accents, here are Etsy's trend predictions for 2022.

Guests are once again coming to our homes, and what better way to greet them than with at-home cocktails in the cutest glasses? Johnson shares that many Etsy shoppers are seeking bar cart accents and essentials that perfectly match their home's aesthetic. Searches on Etsy for personalized decanters are up 79%, and glassware, drinkware, and barware are up 60% compared to last year.

"With at-home entertaining on the rise, I anticipate that next year, shoppers will focus on updating their bar carts, incorporating everything from unique cocktail sets to custom-made muddlers," Johnson shares.

"Next year, we’ll see marble make its way from kitchen countertops to other parts of the home, from statement pieces like tables and credenzas to smaller accents like candle holders and bookends," Johnson shares.

And this is a trend we are definitely obsessed with. Marble is the perfect material for adding a bit of luxury to any nook or cranny. Etsy shoppers are getting a headstart on this trend: the site saw a 22% increase in searches for marbled candles and a 22% increase in searches for green marble items specifically. As green is slated to be the hottest shade of 2022, its link to this trend is no surprise.

Jewel Tones Over Neutrals

Out with the neutrals? Not completely—we'll always have space in our hearts for a beautiful, neutral space. But, decorators are feeling a bit inspired to splash some color across their homes after spending extended time staring at their four—likely gray—walls.

"Instead of gravitating towards cool nudes and neutrals, we’ll see shoppers reaching for jewel-tone shades, like cobalt blue, ruby red, and Etsy’s Color of the Year, emerald green, in 2022," Johnson shares. In fact, Etsy has already seen a 27% increase in searches for jewel-tone items in the last three months compared to last year—and we're on board with the trend.

Even if you gravitate towards neutrality, jewel tones can still make their debut in your home. Try incorporating royal blue in your drinkware, emerald green in your décor accents, or ruby red in your throw pillows.

According to Etsy's trend report, statement lighting is all the rage for 2022, a way for decorators to shine a spotlight on their beautiful homes. Many are already on the hunt for statement lighting—from sculptural pendants to standout sconces—that reflect their own personal style, according to Etsy. The site has seen a 344% increase in searches for '70s lighting,  a 27% increase in searches for sculptural or decorative lighting, and a 25% increase in searches for vintage lighting.

Lighting completes any space—and provides an opportunity to take some unexpected risks as well. Layer lighting in a room to incorporate different hints of warmth, brightness, and design styles, as shown in the space above. This contemporary living room showcases a large paper lantern at the forefront with an additional modern reading lamp over the sofa, effortlessly blending styles and adding a little brightness to the room.
