With the news that Snapchat is raising a new round of funding at an eye-popping $20 billion valuation, there’s no telling where the ultra-popular mobile app can go. No longer just a photo and messaging service, Snapchat continues to stretch the possibilities of what it can do, as it inches closer and closer toward world domination, one filter at a time.
A perfect example of its impressive versatility comes courtesy of Everlane. The e-tailer is currently accepting job applications that can be submitted via Snapchat.
In a post on the job recruiting site Lever, Everlane wrote that making a Snapchat story is the "best way to get hired in 2016." They go on to outline the application process, which is far less formal than the traditional résumé/references combo.
According to the company, all applicants have to do is pick whatever position they want from Everlane’s job listings, create a 60–90 second Snapchat story, tweet them your Snapcode, and then save the story so that it doesn’t expire after 24 hours. Once that’s done, applicants can email their stories to Everlane and hope for the best.
And, to prove that they’re serious about this new method of hiring, Everlane notes that eight out of 10 people working at their Shoe Park were hired thanks to a Snapchat story.
