Portraying Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the legendary Supreme Court justice and feminist hero, is no easy feat, but the director of the forthcoming film, On the Basis of Sex, Mimi Leder, has decided that English actress Felicity Jones is up for the challenge. Jones is best known as the star of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was 2016's highest-grossing movie.
As Deadline Hollywood reports, Jones was selected for the esteemed role yesterday following Natalie Portman's withdrawal. The film, which is set to film in Montreal this coming September, follows Ginsburg as she fights for equal rights throughout her impressive career, which began in 1993.
Ginsberg is the second female justice to ever be confirmed to the court (following Sandra Day O'Connor) and was the only woman serving at one point. Needless to say, she has faced many obstacles throughout her career and has still managed to emerge as a staunch champion of women's rights and a feminist role model within American culture.
