According to Variety, George Clooney and his new wife, lawyer Amal Alamuddin, have purchased an English manor on a private island in the River Thames for an undisclosed amount. Speculated to be worth more than $12 million, the 8,950-square-foot Georgian mansion has 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms and sits on a 5.5-acre private island in the village of Sonning-on-Thames about 39 miles from London.
Fully updated, the historic home features a modern kitchen and spa-like master bath while retaining its heritage charm with chevron wood floors, multiple fireplaces, and stone terraces which lead to the sprawling grounds and separate staff quarters. No stranger to international real estate, Clooney also owns enviable homes on Italy's Lake Como and on Mexico's Baja peninsula.
