We have a record-breaking flu season on our hands; the dangerous Influenza A-H3N2 virus is widespread in 49 states, has led to roughly 37 adolescent deaths, and still has a few solid weeks to spread. Naturally, everyone is taking preventative measures to protect themselves and their families, from loading up on vitamin C to obsessively sanitizing everything in their homes.
But as Real Simple reports, you may be forgetting to clean some of the most obvious spots in your home. These items are so ingrained in your daily routine that you hardly even remember using them. Don't forget to sanitize your cell phone, laptop and computer keyboards, all door knobs, the kitchen counter and faucet, and all stuffed animals and blankets at the start of your next cleaning spree. We'd add bathroom faucets and towels to the list.
This checklist covers the items you use and touch every day, in addition to the main gathering space in your home. Finally, "if your little one has been sick, make sure their favorite furry companion isn't holding onto their germs," they write. "Check the tag on stuffed animals to see if it can go in the washing machine, then place the toy inside a pillowcase secured with a twist tie." Consider adding your child's favorite blanket to the load as well. Head over to Real Simple for more tips.
