IKEA products are known and loved for their multiple uses, and perhaps the most versatile product is the ubiquitous blue-and-yellow tote. Made from durable plastic, the simple holdall might not be the most design-savvy item, but it certainly is handy for a ton of household chores, from carting heavy groceries to carrying thrift store buys. If you tend to hide the bag or crumple it at the back of your wardrobe, that's all about to change.
IKEA has partnered with Danish design brand Hay to reinvent the classic Frakta bag. The bag was originally sold in the brand's iconic (if not a little garish) royal blue and yellow colors, but Hay has reimagined it in a muted palette of gray and bottle green.
Wallpaper reports the redesign is part of a larger collaboration with Hay and Tom Dixon, which will include modern, minimalist furniture and lighting and is set to launch in 2017. While the new-look holdall is certainly more stylish, we're a little shy to admit we'll always have a soft spot for the original.
