Self-improvement is a goal we all share, but there are many paths to get there. Sometimes we make promises to ourselves to eat better, be more active, or teach ourselves new things, but so easily these commitments get put on the back burner when life gets busy. Someone recently posed the question "What can I do an hour a day that will make my life better in 30 days?" on the question-and-answer site Quora.
The community of users pose, answer, and organize questions, and the results are impressively informative. We've rounded up some of our favorite answers from the question above so you can begin working toward a better life and an improved self.
Create something. Our consumption of the media and use of digital devices heavily outweighs our production. Rarely do we take the time to create. Commit to tapping into your creative side and practice your craft, whatever it is—writing, drawing, photography, playing an instrument—or give something new a go.
Communicate with your parents. Make time for your loved ones, taking special care to connect with your parents. As one Quora user notes, you are everything to them. They know almost everything about your life but you don't know huge parts of theirs. Make the effort to discover their story and reconnect in new ways now that you're an adult.
Generate ideas. Many of the answers suggested creating to-do lists, coming up with goals and strategies to achieve them, and free-writing. Take the hour, or even just a half hour, to come up with ideas on any topic you want. It can be reflecting on your day to decompress, planning out the future, or simply writing down the things for which you're thankful. At the end of the month you'll have a journal full of ideas you've fulfilled or are working toward fulfilling.
