She won her first Oscar for Best Actress at age 23. Then she was nominated in the same category the following year. Her new best friend is Amy Schumer, and she’s the face of two top-performing franchises—The Hunger Games and X-Men. Yes, we’re talking about the goofy, beautiful, and incredibly talented Jennifer Lawrence. According to Forbes, she is the highest-paid actress in the world, earning $52 million pre-tax over the last year. While this news may come as no shock to you, it’s the first year the 25-year-old has topped the list.
The only disappointing part of Forbes’s list of incredibly successful female stars is the noticeable discrepancy between actresses’ and actors’ top earnings. While Lawrence’s global revenue is certainly far from chump change, she still earned $29 million less than top-earning actor Robert Downing Jr. Second-highest-earning actress Scarlett Johansson made $35.5 million to Jackie Chan’s second-place $50 million, and third-place Melissa McCarthy took in $23 million to Vin Diesel’s third-place $47 million.
