Jennifer Lawrence is used to jumping from one high-profile film to the next, but in a roundtable interview with Entertainment Tonight, she revealed plans to take a break from acting to focus on an important pursuit: activism. The star is aligned with anti-corruption group Represent.Us, which aims to stop political bribery and broken elections.

"I'm going to take the next year off," she shared with the press while promoting her new spy film, Red Sparrow. "I'm going to be working with this organization as a part of Represent.Us … trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level. It doesn't have anything to do with partisan [politics]," she says. "It's just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state-by-state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy."

Lawrence's representatives were quick to clarify that she won't be taking a whole year off to support the organization, though. Entertainment Weekly points out that she has several projects in development, including a yet-to-be-named filmed with Amy Schumer and a Zelda Fitzgerald biopic, Zelda. "She will return to work when one of several projects in development is ready to go," they countered. Either way, it's clear that Lawrence is eager to extend her involvement beyond the big screen and join the mounting group of actors who are speaking out against political corruption.
