Ever feel like you want to scrap all of your décor and start from scratch? You are not alone. Style setter Judy Aldridge, the voice behind Atlantis Home and mother of fashion blogger Jane of Sea of Shoes, has proven that you can start all over and create a beautiful home—without breaking the bank. She recently reached out to us to share details about her thrift-store makeover of her home in Dallas, Texas, and we couldn’t help but think it was one of the most ingenious ideas.
After virtually emptying her home, she decided to redo it “with items only from the thrift store—and possible a few drive-by estate sales.” She also elected to shop only at charity-run thrift stores “so that everyone benefits!” For her furniture, she purposely chose basic pieces, be it a simple wood coffee table or a traditional sofa reupholstered in a busy print, hoping to inspire others to make affordable finds their own. “The thrift gods have shined on me in terms of some really incredible finds,” she says.
