The Container Store
Kacey Musgraves has had quite the year so far. First, the country music superstar swept the Grammy Awards with four wins, including the prestigious Album of the Year for her crossover hit "Golden Hour." Then she made a splash at the Met Gala in a pitch perfect Moschino look inspired by Barbie. And now, she's the proud owner of a dream closet courtesy of the organizational geniuses at The Container Store and The Home Edit.
After moving into a new Nashville home with her husband, Musgraves turned to The Container Store Custom Closets to create a master closet using the brand's new Avera line. And to really achieve a space that was not only functional, but represented Musgraves personal style as well, she partnered with Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin of The Home Edit to help bring everything together.
Meet the Expert
Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin are the cofounders of The Home Edit, which offers full, online, and out-of-town home organization services. They also authored a guide to organizing your home, also called The Home Edit, and will soon debut an organizing show on Netflix.
The duo, who will soon star in their own Netflix series, were so inspired by the results that they're already itching to craft similar custom closets in their own homes.
"After designing Kacey’s closet with Avera, let’s just say we are already wanting to design our own," they tell MyDomaine. "I mean, how could we not?"
Read on to get a peek inside the expertly organized space, which may not have inspired the line "making everybody jealous when they step into my house" from Musgraves' song "Velvet Elvis," but will certainly have that effect on people from now on.

“We designed drawers for underneath the shelving system to store all clothing items that can’t be hung, and used Avera’s custom inserts for Kacey’s smaller accessory and more delicate items," Shearer and Teplin tell MyDomaine. "Since Kacey travels so often, we made sure to reserve the flat surface above the drawers to help with packing.”

“The top shelf is reserved for all of Kacey’s seasonal and sentimental items, which we stored in white Montauk bins with white bin clips," the duo explains. "Since the closet is full of so much color, the white bins bring fresh uniformity."

Musgraves' collection of accessories are kept organized and untangled thanks to these sleek jewelry storage trays.

“Double hanging rods are everything in a closet. Since we utilized the drawers on the opposite wall and used stackable bins, we were able to frame her colorful display wall of shoes and accessories with a set of double hanging rods and a single rod for long dresses on either side," Shearer and Teplin explain. "We swapped out the black velvet huggable hangers in Kacey’s old closet for white linen to avoid too harsh of a contrast with the new finish.”

And what closet tour would be complete without a look at Musgraves' collection of shoes and bags. We love how the pieces are organized by color in a nod to the singer's love of rainbows.
