The 9 Best Things Kanye West Taught Us About Decorating

When it comes to the creative realm, hip-hop star Kanye West knows no bounds. In addition to his 21 Grammys, he's also got a degree to back it up: West studied fine art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He's also passionate about architecture and interior design -- he and fiancé Kim Kardashian even made a surprise visit to the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he told students, "I really do believe that the world can be saved through design, and everything needs to actually be architected."

If you're not local to the Harvard campus, you can still be privy to West's design thoughts -- he regularly takes to Twitter to talk all things decorating, art, and design. We've narrowed down our favorite of his design-related tweets for your enjoyment in the slideshow above and below.

1. Get inspired by the greats: "Palace of Versailles is the shit."

2. Consider mixing styles: "If Baroque and mod had a car crash, what would the ambulance look like?"

3. Splurge on the small stuff: "At the crib I use really nice napkins instead of paper the idea from the YSL bathroom...way nicer."

4. When it comes to custom, demand perfection: "I specifically ordered Persian rugs with cherub imagery! What do I have to do to get a simple Persian rug with cherub imagery uuuuugh"

5. Celebrate your new décor purchases: "Yes!!!! My glasses came and I don't mean my shades." 6. Know that some things are just decorative: "Fur pillows are actually hard to sleep on." 7. Keep your house smelling fresh: "New flowers in the crib...potpourri too." 8. Don't stress; everything takes time: "We're all works in progress...we're paintings...the oil don't dry till we die." 9. Push your artistic envelope: "New ideas are an artist's greatest gift...exposure is an artist's greatest power."
