After voicing her fertility struggles on countless episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, it appears that Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have hired a surrogate for baby number three. As E! News reports, the reality star's complications with both preeclampsia and placenta accreta, a condition that occurs when the placenta attaches too deep into the uterine wall, renders a third pregnancy potentially life-threatening for the reality star.
After experiencing complications of that nature, "We're always worried about the next serious complication. … You're always taking a little bit of a chance," said Kardashian's OB/GYN, Paul Crane, MD. "There are situations where retained placenta could be life and death."
Kardashian has never been one to sugarcoat her difficult experience with pregnancy. "I just don't think pregnancy and I really agree with each other," she told E! back in November 2015 while carrying Saint. "I do feel really blessed that I am pregnant and at the end of the day it is a million times worth it…I'm really not complaining, I'm just being honest … pregnancy is not for me. … That's my experience and I'm not gonna pretend that it's not."
Fans of the show know that the surrogacy decision has been a long time in the making. "I'm definitely leaning more towards I want to try," Kim told her older sister Kourtney during the April 2 episode of KUWTK. "After talking to Kanye, I think I always knew that surrogacy was an option, but I didn't think it was that realistic of an option, and now I feel like that's my reality."
