Carefully selecting the perfect name for your baby can come with a lot of pressure. It's something we at MyDomaine have spent a lot of time thinking about. From trending monikers to names inspired by countries around the world, there are just so many to choose from. If you find yourself counting down the days left to make this major decision, you and your partner might welcome some assistance. Enter Kinder, the app that's essentially Tinder for baby names.
The app generates an array of baby names originating from different cultures and languages. You and your partner select a gender or specify if you don't know yet, type in a last name, and start swiping (it's just like Tinder except instead of a potentially horrific first date, you get a baby name). When you and your partner both swipe right on the same name, you'll be notified and the app will create a short list of names based on your matches.
While baby-name apps are nothing new, this app, in particular, has garnered a dedicated following. "I furiously rejected names as they appeared rapid-fire on my phone, feeling no urge to cycle through social media or stare dead-eyed at pregnancy forums. On Kinder, I am decisive. I know what I like. It is not Kylan, Miller, Jon, Kolten, Phoenix (respect tho), Darren, Kash—I could go on. By eliminating these ridiculous prospects I do feel like I am accomplishing something," writes Meaghan O'Connell for The Cut.
Even if you don't end up finding that one perfect name on the app, you'll still be able to weed through some options and learn more about what you do and don't like—see, it's just like using a dating app.
Download the app and give swiping for baby names a try.
