You don't have to be a diehard Kardashian fan to harbor a curiosity about the family's lives. While their relationships and outfit choices usually steal the headlines, there's one aspect of the sisters' day-to-day that we're always eager to learn more about: their homes.
This week, Kourtney Kardashian invited fans of her app on a virtual tour of her immaculate dining room. Boasting a sleek, sophisticated design consistent with the rest of her Calabasas mansion, the space was a joint effort with family-favorite interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard.
"When I was designing my living room with my decorator Martyn Lawrence Bullard, we agreed that this is the one room in the house that doesn't need to be super comfortable. "It has to be practical and kid-friendly, but not comfortable because this isn't really a comfort room," she says. "It's more of a party and entertaining space."
She points out one of her favorite pieces in the living room, a bespoke oak coffee table. "Martyn made this custom coffee table out of cerused oak—which is a special wood finish that highlights the natural grain in a subtle white pigment."
Kardashian says she was cautious not to overload the room with busy accents. "The neutral chandeliers add dimension to the room, but don't compete with the cool design of the ceiling," she says.
Sentimental items have pride of place, including a stately black piano. "I've had this Yamaha piano in my life since I was a little girl. I took piano lessons on this exact piano, so it's very sentimental to me—my mom gave it to me."
