Experience
Before joining The Spruce, Lauren worked at Real Simple, where she held a series of roles on both the print and the digital teams over more than three years. In her time at Real Simple, Lauren wrote and edited articles about home decor, organizing, cleaning, decluttering, and pet care, among many other topics. In her most recent role there as SEO Editor, Lauren also led efforts to improve and expand seasonal holiday content, writing about hosting, entertaining, and gifting in relation to all major holidays. She also produced Real Simple’s beloved “6 Clever Items to Simplify Your Life” digital column for nearly three years, testing and researching hundreds of products in order to share only the most helpful with her readers.
Before joining the Real Simple team, Lauren worked at Coastal Living for nearly two years, where she covered travel, pets, and more and did extensive fact-checking and research for print and digital articles. Lauren also interned at Good Housekeeping and The Four Seasons Magazine while she was in college, along with working on several on-campus student media publications.
As a self-described stress cleaner, Lauren has always found comfort and catharsis in scrubbing the shower or reorganizing her closet. Her current around-the-house passions include removable wallpaper, clever small-space organizing ideas, and paint colors.
As Editor, Lauren assigns and edits interesting, helpful articles written by a team of knowledgeable experts (She even writes a few herself). Her background in lifestyle media and service journalism has given her the tools to find fresh, engaging ways to help readers feel inspired and empowered to improve their homes and lives in ways large and small.
