In January of each year, some 4000 of the world's brightest minds gather in Sin City for a weeklong display of cutting-edge innovation at the Consumer Electronics Show, colloquially known as CES. While the tech geniuses of the world unveil their precious new inventions, the rest of the world merely waits with bated breath, hoping to catch a glimpse of the next iPhone or the lifestyle invention that will finally make Disney's Smart House a reality. While lifelike robots have yet to infiltrate American homes as our '90s predictions promised, CES 2017 certainly delivered on its promise of exciting and potentially life-changing new tech. From the world's first environmentally friendly showerhead to a sleek, inconspicuous breast pump, we're loving the direction of lifestyle technology in 2017.
Click through the gallery below to preview the five tech inventions that will revolutionize the way we live in the New Year.
Traditional breast pumps are noisy, cumbersome, and require two hands and your full attention. The Willow smart breast pump system wants to change that reality, offering new moms a painless, tubeless, and noiseless alternative. "The tear-drop shaped machine rests on the mother's breasts under her bra, and collects milk in a pouch that's stored inside the device," explains The Verge. The Willow will be available in this spring for $430.
This year, Griffin debuted a new line of smart kitchen products designed to simplify your everyday routine. Included in its new collection are a smart coffee maker and smart toaster, which are Bluetooth enabled and can be operated using an app on your phone. VP of Product Development Scott Naylor hopes that these innovations will "simplify and enhance how people use technology in their daily lives," according to a press release. Both products will be available this spring for $100 each.
An emerging favorite of CES 2017, the Polaroid Pop, is both an instant and a digital camera, meaning you can shoot photos or video in either format at the same time. The Polaroid Pop prints 3-by-4-inch instant photos using inkless Zink photo paper, and comes equipped with a 20-megapixel sensor, reports The Verge. Be on the lookout for this groundbreaking new camera in late 2017.
Want to upgrade your bathroom hardware and save the environment? Consider the Hydrao Loop and Drop smart shower head from Smart & Blue. Proudly dubbed the "world's first eco-sensitive smart shower," the Hydrao Loop and Drop actually lights up the water with different colors depending on the amount of water used. Preorder yours today for January 16 shipment.
Another smart home innovation from the minds over at Griffin, the Connected Mirror is as futuristic as it gets. The app-powered device displays the time, weather, and status messages from other Griffin Home products. You can easily hide or conceal information within the smartphone app, allowing the mirror to double as a chic home accessory. The Connected Mirror will grace American homes beginning in late 2017 for $1000.
