If you recently bought pre-cut and pre-packaged vegetable mixes from leading chains like Trader Joe's and Walmart, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency urges you check the product in your fridge. That's because packaged vegetable brand Mann Packing just failed a random food safety test, prompting a product recall.
Mann Packing, which produces various pre-cut vegetable packs including coleslaw and broccoli mixes, tested positive for listeria, a bacteria strain that can be dangerous among people with weakened immune systems, Business Insider reports. According to the FDA, symptoms include "high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea."
Here's a rundown of just some of the products being recalled due to possible contamination, but be sure to check the full FDA list if you're concerned you may have purchased questionable goods.
- Trader Joe's: Kohlrabi Salad Blend
- Whole Foods: Veggie Power Blend, Sesame Chicken Power Salad, and Mexican Chicken Power Salad in 10 California stores
- Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and Pak'nSave: Fresh vegetable trays and cups
- H-E-B: single-serve soups
