>Did you know that Mark Wahlberg has his own Boston-based fast-casual burger chain? The actor and his brothers—one of whom is a classically trained chef with over 30 years in the restaurant industry—are the proud owners of seven Wahlburgers restaurants. However, Business Insider is reporting that the Wahlbergs have signed an agreement with five franchise groups and have plans to open 118 new Wahlburgers over the next five to seven years.
>The cities that will get Wahlburger locations include Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia; Los Angeles; Charlotte, North Carolina; Cleveland; Detroit; Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and San Francisco. The company has also made previous agreements to open in Manhattan, Orlando, Philadelphia, Long Island, and Washington, D.C.
>The restaurant has a full bar with craft beer, wine, and liquor; the option to dine in with table service; and menu items like crispy fried Bermuda onion rings tossed in sea salt and parsley and the "originally from Dorchester" beef burger with housemade tomato jam, bacon, Swiss cheese, and sauteed mushrooms.
>While Whalburgers will be competing with chains like Shake Shack, Five Guys, and Smashburger, it has an advantage, thanks to an Emmy-nominated reality television show of the same name. Wahlburgers the show, which stars the brothers, has just been approved for two more 14-episode seasons on A&E.
