Megan McCarty

Megan is a writer and editor with over 13 years of experience in both print and digital media, covering interior design and home décor. She regularly contributes to design-focused outlets such as Architectural Digest, Domino, House & Home, Hunker, and Rue. Megan started her career in bridal magazines, working as the Director of Digital Content for a variety of titles, including Seattle Bride and Minnesota Bride.

Experience

Megan began her writing career in 2008, not a great year to begin working in media, but it all worked out for the best. After a seven-year stint writing and editing a variety of regional city and bridal magazines, she went full-time freelance, which has allowed her to take on a variety of exciting and interesting assignments.

What she’s done: traveled the world on press trips (her favorites: staying in a tiny bridge house in Amsterdam and lounging on the beach in the south of Portugal), handled social media strategy for a variety of fashion and design clients, edited chocolate chip cookie recipes as the interim editor of Pillsbury.com, and so much more. Now, much of her writing revolves around décor and design, and she regularly contributes to notable design publications such as Architectural Digest, Domino, and House & Home.

Megan lives in Minneapolis, but is always within arm's reach of her suitcase for a writing retreat or a press trip, especially during Minnesota's six-month-long winters.

Education

Megan graduated from the University of Minnesota, where she received a B.A. in Journalism, with an emphasis on Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature.
