Novels could be written about the minutiae of Meghan Markle's everyday life, but somehow the general public has missed the fact that the soon-to-be-royal's name isn't actually Meghan. A simple Google search of "Meghan Markle name" will alert you to the fact that her first name is actually Rachel, followed by middle name Meghan.
Though most people have no idea that she goes by her middle name (I didn't even know before writing this story), this information is no secret. Both her Wikipedia page and her IMDb page clearly state her full name as "Rachel Meghan Markle." What isn't clear is why Markle goes by her middle name instead of her first. It's possible that the switch happened when she became an actress, as the alliteration in "Meghan Markle" is much catchier than "Rachel Markle." Seeing as it's not uncommon for actors to go by stage names, this seems like a feasible explanation.
In the big scheme of things, this is an admittedly trivial bit of information. But we can't help but feel a bit stunned by the revelation, especially considering the amount of buzz surrounding Markle and Prince Harry before the royal wedding on May 19. Even the official royal wedding invitations refer to her as "Ms. Meghan Markle." Either way, we wish Prince Harry and Rachel Meghan Markle the best at their upcoming nuptials!
