In the 28-year history of Cooking Light magazine, a person has never once graced the cover. That is, until now. The First Lady of the United States covers the March 2015 issue. In the magazine's feature article, "The First Lady of Food," Mrs. Obama talks about her Let's Move! campaign (the First Lady’s program to end childhood obesity is celebrating its five-year anniversary), the current state of family dinners, and her hopes for the future.
Mrs. Obama told Cooking Light that she will "measure the success of Let’s Move!—and her legacy—against today’s generation of kindergartners; new healthy norms will mean that fresh vegetables, fruits, and whole grains will be second nature by the time they’re in college." She notes that by then, of course, she’ll be long gone from the White House, but she plans to stay committed to fostering a nation of healthier children.
Cooking Light's March 2015 issue is on newsstands nationwide this Friday.
